Estonia is rich in woodlands and that’s a fine thing for a carpenter here. Getting local woods to work with is relatively easy. The most common woods in Estonia are (roughly) these:
- Pine – 45%
- Birch – 25%
- Spruce – 20%
- Aspen – 5%
- (others) – 5%
Here on Villema farm where we get most of our raw material, the picture is quite different, however, and our most common woods are ash, juniper, and birch.
